The Joint Engine-building Corporation (JEBC) is ready to equip the Russian-Chinese heavy transport helicopter — the agreement about which creation has been signed at the beginning of May — the self-produced engine, the CEO of UEC Vladislav Masalov has reported to “An air-transport review”.

According to him, it is about the PD-12V turbo-shaft engine which is planned to be developed on the basis of PD-14 gas generator — the turbofan motor created for the perspective narrow-body MS-21 airplane.

PD-12V is also considered as possible replacement of the D-136 engine of production of the Ukrainian enterprise “Motor Sich” which now equips the heavy Mi-26 helicopter. At the end of last year the UEC has carried out the preliminary analysis of a possibility of development of the new motor with “Russian Helicopters“, however the specification on it is not formulated yet. Besides, as the volume of orders — both internal, and export — on the Mi-26 helicopter small, expediency of its remotorization remains under doubt so far. Certainly, on condition of start of works on the new engine within the Russian-Chinese project the situation would be changed radically.

Works on engines for averages (on the Russian classification) helicopters remain the priority direction for a helicopter segment of UEC.

VK-2500PS engines — modification for the Mi-171A2 helicopter — now pass the program of certification tests; it is expected that by fall it will be executed in full and the VK-2500PS engine will receive the certificate of type. The batch oriented production of VK-2500 engines accustoms to cooperation with the Motor Sich enterprise, at the same time the structure of cooperation from the Russian side was expanded. The Narofominsky engineering plant is engaged in production of compressor blades, and compressors will be released not only by MMP of V. V. Chernyshev as it is not enough its production capacities, but also Salyut Gas turbine engineering research and production center. According to UEC, in 2014 and the beginning of 2015 10 engines are already assembled, on two of them qualification tests are carried out, now there is an approval of the test report and transfer of design documentation in full for start of the batch oriented production. The plans of UEC include release in the 2015th not less than 50 more stock engines. However completely need of the customer — Helicopters of Russia holding — it will not satisfy therefore “Motor Sich” will continue deliveries of sets of the VK-2500 engine and its previous modification — TV3-117.

For the Mi-38 helicopter works on the TV7-117 engine are continued. At the end of 2015 the UEC plans to complete certification of this engine with a resource of 1000 h. However terms of deliveries of the Mi-38 helicopters draw in, the two first cars have to be ready in the I quarter 2016. Therefore “Russian Helicopters” and UEC have agreed on the accelerated program according to which until the end of the II sq. 2015 the certificate of type on engines with a limited resource of 100 h has to be issued. After that all complex of tests will be executed by the end of the year to receive the full certificate of type.

Now the UEC and “Russian Helicopters” discuss the contract for delivery of 50 TV7-117 engines, but at the time of delivery of number in the press neither terms of the contract, nor its cost have been coordinated. It is expected that all conditions will be coordinated until the end of May, at the same time delivery of the first stock engines will hardly begin earlier than the II-III quarter of the next year as so far the engine formally has not passed test and to issue documentation to manufacturer it will turn out only to the middle of summer or by fall.

The program of development of the new VK-800V engine for the light Ansat helicopters and Ka-226 is as speak in UEC, in an initiative phase, that is it is not closed, but also active works on it are not conducted. While these helicopters are completed with import engines (by the way, at the beginning of April the ARE of IAC certified the Ka-226T helicopter with Arrius 2G1 engines of the French producer Turbomeca entering into Safran group), but if from “Russian Helicopters” the accurate task is set, then the UEC is ready to perform all works on this engine within about three years.

Among the planned works of UEC there is a creation of a research backlog for absolutely new engine. Originally this work was performed within the project of the perspective high-speed helicopter, but last year financing of the program of PSV has been stopped.

In UEC work went to two stages. The first — deep modernization VK-2500M with the new compressor, compressor and free turbines, a control system and other improvements which will allow to reach new resource indicators. The engine is developed in two modifications, with a conclusion of a shaft of selection of power forward and back so it can be used by Mi and KA helicopters. In case of a successful completion of works and obtaining good technical parameters this program will allow to carry out a remotorization practically of all park of the Russian helicopters.

The second stage — absolutely new engine. While there is a design of its main nodes, in particular the new centrifugal compressor and a combustion tube, application of new technologies, for example by the additive 3D – the press is studied. According to information from UEC if the decision to renew the program of PSV is made, by this moment developmental works on the new engine will appear in the completing phase.
